Please help, just got it back together

I just got my 406ex back together and i drilled 6 holes in the airbox, took off the choke and after i broke it in i went for a ride and it wasnt runnin soooo great..

I was in about fourth gear down the road and if i held the throttle at one spot it would just rev up and down and bog a bit.

Also, my engine has started to make a quite loud ticking noise.

Please help me!!

Sounds like it is either lean or rich. My guess would be lean because you mentioned a "tick" that i would guess is pre detonation maybe. I'd look ath the spark plug color. But i'd re adjust the valves again just to make sure that's not them.
