and neither is a yfz dumb@ss. i hate when just because people have one quad, they think everythign else sucks. they are both good quads. just because one may require a little more maintenance then the other doesnt mean its a pos. look into it, do your homework, sit on/ride them if possible and see wich one you like.

Dont ever go by what the shoot outs say, a honda will never win these days. Shoot outs mean nothing. Go out and sit on both, ride both the decide never buy what a stupid magazine says.

i noticed the paint on a honda is horrible it gets beat quick that and it sits high is my only dislikes of the honda.. yamaha you have to buy 2 cams instead of one and it looks like a electrical mesh.. i like both but a hybrid is what i would choose

I think you should get a 450.

yea well those dirtwheels shootouts you read are sh*t.... there both top notch quad's performance and maintance wise. i have friends who's yfz's tear up, and friends who's 450r tear up. it happens..... he said he was gonna race. i dont care who you are eventually something will tear up in racing. if your a taller guy you'd feel more comfortable on a 450r because of the taller handlebars and it just feels like you have more space to move around on than the yfz. the yfz suits a shorter rider better. or you could always just flip a coin and say what the hell. your buying a great quad either way you go;)

one big plus i found after I just got my R is the shape of the seat/gastank compare to the yfz. I love how the gas tank has like a space for your knees, and it seems to give you a more comfortable, confident feel when your sitting down, and leaning off one side in turns. The yfz has nothing like that, it's just kinda narrow at the tank, and I don't think it felt good at all. I do know that with that cam mod, and a gytr pipe, it will move alot qicker than my stock r, but i'm sure they even out when you have more equal mods.

I have ridden both and I picked the 450r. I think it has a better ride and is much more comfortable to ride. They are both great bikes. Like said above, its all about personal preference.
