Alright, well i'm looking into future opportunities for my motor on my 04 R, and would like to do some research early in the game.

Right now, i have a JE 13:1 piston and 04 crf cam in my quad, now soon i plan on getting my head ported and polish and install a vortex programmable cdi in it. Now i've been hearing some things on boring out your stock carb... would this be a good idea and what gains or loses would i see from doing this with the work stated above... Keep in mind, i wouldn't get it bored until after the head is ported and the cdi is installed...

Thanks

I personally have my stock carb and intake boot bored out. I've read that our stock CV styles aren't as responsive as the FCR's, but mine revs just as quick as a CRF450R and I have no bog what so ever. I can stab the throttle as quick as I want and it'll just pull.
Pro- I guess is you don't have to shell out an extra $300-$400 on the fcr carb and then have it ported as mods increase;
Con- supposedly the lag from being a round slide carb
