New 250EX owner what does he need to know?

My Buddy just got his first quad, a 2005 250EX.
Is there anything that needs attention right off the bat? Skid plates maybe?

I was curious as to how the swingarm is removed with it being shaft drive? Is it more difficult then a chain drive sport quad?

if he's riding trails, skid plates would be a good investiment, they are not necessay but would be nice to have

i had a 250ex for about 2 years and it was a pretty good bike to learn on. an engine skid place along with a swingarm skid would be ideal, the stock ones are garbage.

also be sure to keep the rear end oiled, i didnt and it completly tore it up, had to replace it. the swing arm comes off really easy, its just the pivot bolts and then it all slides off. there is a shaft coming directly off the motor and it slides into the rear end.
