1st thing...check out where you live, which one has more races and opportunities for you to ride XC or MX. 2nd thing...your quad, now don't get me wrong I love my 400ex to death but to compete at all on a 400ex in MX your gonna spend a ton of cash to get it where it needs to be, where in XC a 400ex can be setup to compete for a more moderate amount of money. I say XC all the way, just seems that there are more races and opportunities to ride than there is in MX.

I agree with prepracing. Me, I race MX and love it to death on my 400ex. But my motor is built to the max pretty much. I can win and compete with it still, but it's day is soon to be over. And on top of that, it's a ton more expensive to get serious into MX. I say dabble in cross country, maybe tweak with your setup on your quad a little, if you don't like it, then come on over to MX. But I would try XC first, that's what I did... It's cheaper....
