View Full Version : What else should I check?

Ok, so I think I may be burning oil. I've looked all around the outside of the engine looking for leaks, and can't see any. I've looked by the header, and watched to see if it smoked, and I can't see any blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. So my question is were else should I check. I may not be burning it, but everytime I go riding I have to put about half a quart in it. Is this normal? Or am I burning it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

do u let it warm up for 5 minutes before you check it?

Not always, but today I was defintely paying attention, and I read the book and it said 5-10 min. So I let it for about 6 min. And had to put in about 3/5 of a quart today.

I'm no expert on this kinda stuff but your piston rings may be worn out letting oil into your cylinder from the crank.

Thats what me and my dad were thinking, but if so wouldn't I see blue smoke out. I'm no expert either so I dunno.

Yeah blue smoke would make a lot of sense so that sucks. I dont know anyway else youd be losing oil.

I've been looking all around the outside of it and can't see nothing. I haven't took anything off though so I think its internal. But i'll double check it tomorrow.
