ok well soon I will be getting a job and i\'ve done some thinking and whipped out the calculator. I said if i get paid 6.00 an hour i will have like $490 in one month and in 2 months almost 1000, and by six months like 2,500 i think, so if i work for 6 months and make 2,500 and then sell my quad for about 3,500 i would have 6,000 dollars to spend. soo These are the ONLY two machines I\'ve been debating on. a 2006 LTZ 400 or a 2006 TRX 450R kick model. I think i would like to have the 450R because its quick enough to ride the mostly straight trails around here and it has good suspension and a kick start option which i think is nice and oldschool its also pretty light like exatly like the weight of my 250ex. And I would like a Z400 because it has reverse, liquid cooling like the 450R and they top out around 65 mph i believe, correct me i f I\'m wrong. Also the Z feels smooth to me and i like the seat and the overall feel of it.

what are the differences in speed between the two? I\'m kinda leaning toward the Z bc its cheaper and its more trail worthy with reverse. And it also has some extra uumph then a 400ex and better technology. not that I will ever have anything against a Honda. Plus if i got the Z I\'d have a little money left over to modifiy it.

I also love the 450r too but man is this a BIG tough decision!

help me out here.

what are some of your poinions and tell me the difference in speeds between the two.

What kind of quad do you plan to sell for $3500?

I hate to burst your bubble, but you're dreaming if you think you'll get $3500 for you 250EX. Especially since the new ones have redesigned plastics and the new SportClutch.

You'll be lucky to see $2000. :ermm:

And please, for those reading this, don't turn this into a thread of "dude, you'll never get that much". Two posts is enough to get the point across.

dude, you'll never get that...just had to...

the other thing to think about is the taxes taken from your pay...uncle sam likes his cut too

save for a little longer and get the 450r though

saving up money never works like that. you have to take out taxes, plus you have the monwy in hand, you will end up spending part of it on something instead of saving it all. i would say ride each to wee what you like better. see if a buddy will let you ride his for part of the day, not just blasting through a field, but on the trails you would ride it on and see which you like better. also, if your parents woud get a loan in their name for you, sell your quad now and make payments on a new one. just pay your parents the money for your monthly payments.

i think going from the 250 to the 450 is a pretty big jump. I would go for the 400. or buy your brothers z450 if you really want something fast.

Why are you only working for 6 months??? Why not join the rest of the world and hold a job - then after a year you'll easily be able to buy what you want.

Just my $0.02.

Oh and .... You'll NEVER get $3500 out of that! ;) :D :)

You won't have to pay taxes if you buy the quad used from an individual.

Get a job, and finance a quad. Thats what I did and I'm doing fine.

If you have any usable skills and 1/2 a head on your shoulders you should be able to make more than $6/hr at your age.

Just dont forget about Uncle Sam.
