Rear Shock Play

I just put all new bearings throughout my 400ex. Everything is installed correctly. Is it normal for the rear shock to have 'side to side play?' If I stand on the side of the bike, grab the shock, I am able to move it from one side to the other. Nothing is loose with the shock, the side to side play is along the bolt that holds the shock to the frame and along the bolt that connect the shock to the linkage. It has to be normal, I do not see any way of avoiding this.

try getting in a search engine and looking up the correct directions for this app. because somthin's not right there. there should be about a eighth of an inch movement and that's it from side to side
