i've got a 2006 450er and the fan has not ever run yet. riding in 40-50 degree days. a couple 20 minute rides. just breaking it in. nothing. yesterday a day at rausch creek, some longer runs, a little more pressure, and nothing. no red light? i'm running 110 octane race gas. anyone?

also it seems to not start super hard. have to crank it 2-3 times. and sometimes from a stop while hot and running , hit the gas, loud knock and stall.

no mods.

brand new and a little freaked out!!!!!!!!!!

turn idle up a little mine use to do same thing. usually shutting down on the drag strip then she didnt want to start for a bit. I dont think I have ever heard/seen my fan on either, and taking my kids through the trails at slow speeds it feels like its getting a little warm but as you said no temp light comes on.

I have an 06 and i have never noticed my fan run either. it still might be to cold to have it come on. if you want to test to see if it works, start your bike then unplug the wire at the temp sensor and ground that wire to the engine. if it comes on its working.

I ran mine at the First two GNCC's and I don't think my fan came on either. Never got hot though, so I am not worried about it.

you guys should just wire it direct so it always runs

your fans havent turned on because your 450 isnt OVERHEATING!!!What do you want it to come on?

my 04 450rs fan came on seriously 4 times and i rode and raced it every weekend. my 06s hasnt come on yet. also DO NOT GIVE IT GAS when starting it. thats why your heating a big clank.

although i agree with you. the fan should come on way before the quad overheats. it should prevent overheating not cool it down when it over heats.

I dont think its a good idea to wire it on all the time either, it would constantly put a draw on the battery and charging system. and I think the heat we are feeling is more from the exhaust pipe (under slow trail riding) mine gets pretty warm, but its just what i feel on my leg and thats not the best temp gage lol

i've ridden my buds 04 and the fan seemed to be one once and a while. we rode it in the 6 hour and 12 hour and it was on the whole time. i know that's extreme riding. i'm glad to hear that it seems normal. i dont want it to come on, i just want to make sure it will when it needs to.

the engine has a thermostat in it, so who cares what temp the rad is at.you don,t need to run the fan all the time. when the WHOLE system gets to hot the fan will come on.my 06 fan has never come on either, but i'm not worried about it.my 03 CRF 450 when in the woods going slow it would get real hot never hurt it. it held less coolant than the trx and made more power. the day will come and you will here the fan, don't worry.:D

Just my 2cents.
