400ex sound?

I know this have been hashed over.
My buddy just put a sparks pipe on his YZF 450 and it sounds BAD!!!!

I have a 05 400ex with a White bros e-series never rode, it sound nice but I want more thump, deeper. What is the deepest pipe?

i know what you mean about the wb e-series, i had one and didnt care for the sound much. at that time, my friend just bought a new z400 and it came with a yoshimura pipe. after i heard him take a few rips up and down the powerlines, i went home and tried selling my wb for a yosh. ended up just selling my whole quad but i still love listening to his quad when we go riding, its got a great sound and its deeper than most ive heard. also if you want more of a race pipe, the sparks(obviously you know already), nmotion, lrd,etc are all great and sound awsome.

hmf, sparks, and the dmc alien are all pretty deep

sparks/hmf/dmc ALIEN/duncan double barrel, those give you a deep roar

my 11:1 piston completly changed the sound of my 400ex with a bill ballance slip on and that is only a fraction of the price of exh. if you do the work your self.

would the yoshi on the Z sound the same as if it were on a 300ex?

does a piston really change the sound? i didnt know that....what did it do....get deeper?

i cant explain but, i think the higher compression makes the exh. exit faster making a diff. my cdi box did the same. cause i road half the day with the stock cdi and then switched to see if i could tell the diff. and it changed the sound and lowend torq. other people may not have the same effect but this is what i experienced.

HMF is pretty deep.
and mod do change the tone of the bike. i hihger comp piston will make a bike have a deeper sound, my bike even changed sounds when i put in a different cam.

quads also get a little deeper if you take the air box lid off.
i have no air box on my quad and i could tell the differnce in sound.

also we have a rapter with the stock muffler and ran no lid. it actuly sounded alot deeper compaired to a stock raptor.

i had an hmf slip on on my old 400ex and i didnt think it sounded that great. i got kind of sick of the sound, i like the sound of the yoshi more than hmf

I have a 400ex and I put a HMF sport series full system with their head pipe on my quad. When it is idling it is very deep, and gets deeper when the engine is working (going up hill or heavy throttle.) I dont think that you will be disapointed with the HMF sport series at all. My 2 cents

well i for one like the sound of my TC pipe, i think its the deepest i have ever heard on a 400ex, my buddie has a 13:1 piston and an LRD on his 05 YFZ and i think mine sounds pretty much as BAD@$$ if not more and my motor is all stock,, well there's my 2 cents!
( not tc's are not coffee cans, lol )
