i thought i heard once that there was some way to search for all the programs that had been created within a time period. is there a way to do this?

Not sure what the proper technique is, but you could just sort the folders in the "Program Files" folder by Date Created. This should give you some idea (obviously wont work for programs that do not have an installation directory)
