My wife's 250EX is the first shaft-driven quad I've owned. I know you sometimes have to tinker with the sprockets on a chain driven quad if you go with lower profile tires. What do you do with a shafty? DO you have to do anything? :huh I'm thinking of going from the stock 22 to maybe a 20.

Im runnin 22" Razrs and havent really regretted it yet. I kinda wish I would have went with the 20s for the more low end b/c I mainly trail ride. If you do get 20s you will lose some top end (like 5 mph give or take a little) and your gears will rev out quicker but you will have better low end. Ground clearance wise....it shouldnt set any lower than your Z and if you ride in rocky terrain I would suggest maybe an aftermarket skid plate (not DG) b/c the stocker isnt immensely strong. Ive already got 2-3 big dents in mine.

Maybe that helped you out some.

If you are going to put 20" tires on get the factory 400ex tires. They are 20x10x9, the 20" regular holeshots are as tall as the factory 250ex 22's. Plus with them being 11" wide I think they are a little heavier.

Rico - Yeah, I've been wanting to try out the H-M trails. However, I may not still be here in October. I'm finishing up my thesis, and it may take a month, or it may take 6 months, depending on how much I ride! :D Thanks for the offer, I'll definitely keep it in mind!

As for the tires, I don't think my wife will mind a little off the top end, being a newbie and all... Looks like the 20's are the most popular. I have noticed that the Holeshots are pretty tall, too. As for the ground clearance, this weekend when I took it out to start the break-in I smacked a couple of rocks so I was planning on getting a beefier skid plate for the swingarm anyway.

Thanks for all the help, everyone!
