My 350R now has a baby 250 brother. Here is my newest purchase. I payed $3800 and it came with a bunch of part. By the time I'm done selling some of the parts on Ebay I plan on having it only to have cost me about $2000. It's a Lonestar frame that I even got the paperwork with it.

I took the Lonestar swingarm, TCS no-link shock and Lonestar no-link airbox off and grafted on a TRX450r swingarm that I bought for $50. The Works rear shock came with the quad parts.

When I bought it it had nasty white plastic so I put on my extra Black Fullbore's. Yesterday I went riding and met up with a guy who traded me my black for the awesome red.

Nice find, especially since it has the lonestar frame. It looks really clean too.

You should do a shootout report for anyone looking to go big bore to really know the pros and cons.

Just wondering, why the hell would you get rid of the lonestar no-link, and TCS shock for a stock 450r swingarm, and a works shock? The LSR/TCS set up is one of the best rear end set ups out there.

But it is still a great looking quad.

I'm 37 and have a wife and 2 kids. I ride gravel pits, trails and hills. I didn't need a nice setup like that for the riding I do so I sold the expensive stuff and replace it with items that still serve their purpose for the type of riding I do and and got $800 of the Quad purchase price back. And I still have a great running Quad for backup and to let my friends ride.

I sold my stroker 370 setup and will let you know how my new 350PV goes when I get it all together this spring. The cylinder is out getting ported and the cases are being powder coated. My new red 250r goes real well but still absolutly no comparison to a bigbore powervalve. I love the look on the guys with built 450's faces when they get smoked.

where did you get the 350pv from?

how hard was it to put the 450r swingarm on? what did you have to do for modding the swinger? what are you using for brake set-up, and bearings carrier also?

I bought an unported kit from ESR and I'm having a R.E.D. do the port work for me. He does great work and is always burried. He has a 6 month waiting list right now.

As for the swingarm: all 250r components(brakes, carrier, pivot collar) all fit. I had to grind the front cross member on the swingarm quite a bit because it was hitting the lower frame shock linkage mount. I had to use the longer dogbone link for a 86 250r for the ride height. I also had to remove about .030-.040 of an inch off one of the front collar bushings for the pivot to work right.

i am in the process of putting a 450r swinger on my 250r also, and was wondering what you used for the front caps that cover the bearings, that is if you used anything? Also what link did you use? and did you stay with a 250r rear shock, or go with a 450 one?

I used a "86" 250r long dogbone link with a Works Performance 250r shock. You could also use a Durablue adjustable strut link. I used a "88" swingarm pivot bearing collar and the 450r Dust caps. The 2 key areas to watch is how much you have to grind on the bottom of the swingarm to clear the frame linkage mount and the very little you have to grind off one of the pivot end bushings that the dust caps fit on to. You have to make sure the pivot bearing collar is what gets pinched between the fram rails when you tighten the swinarm bolt not those end bushings or else it will bind up. Sorry i didn't answer ealier.
I am seeing How many 450r parts I can make work on a 250R so that when the 250r parts aren't available anymore we can always come up with something to keep the "R"'s working and kicking butt.

I never knew that the dog bone was longer on the 86. Thats the straight part on the linkage not the part shaped like a U , right? is the U part different on the 88 and 86?

beerock,
you have to remember this is a spare quad for me so the less money I have into it the more I can justify keeping it.

Meat,
Sorry but no, I sold the airbox for $200. By the way when is Coalfest 2. We can get the BansheeHQ and atvriders together. That would be one hell of a weekend!!!!!!

250-R-250,
The Dogbone is about 1 inch longer for the 86-87's. It compensates for the different length between the 86-87 an 88-89 swingarms.
