Hey folks,
I just picked up a stock 2005 TRX 90 for the little guys to ride. We live on eight acres and have built a track on our property. There are no jumps yet, as I am trying to teach them from the gorund up! My son, and one of my daughters have showed interest in racing! Can some one put us in th eright direction. My daughter is 8, and my son is 10. Are they old enough to race the 90, or should I have looked for a 50. We got a GREAT deal on the 90 out the door, I could not pass it up.
We live on the same Mountain as Camp David in Maryland.
Thanks folks,
Sean and the Gang:D

Glad to hear your getting your kids into riding. As far as racing goes,we are in the same boat as you. This will be our first year as well. What we did was check out what tracks were in what districts and we checked to see which ones were closest to us.District 7 is where the closest tracks were so we went with that.District 7 will probably have the closest tracks for you as well. What type of racing will your kids be doing, motocross or cross country?I believe that both of them are old enough to race the 90,however depending on how aggressive your kids ride you may want to start the younger one in a lower class. The main thing is to keep it fun.We will be racing mx,hopefully we will see you at the races.
Also, you may want to talk to MXDAD on this site.He has been very helpful with answering my rookie racing questions and he is very knowledgable on the mini quad racing scene.

Thanks wvspeedfreak
I am not to far from WV, and District 7 is closest fo rus as well! I e-mailed the ATV contact at District 7 several times, but I have yet to hear back from him? Do you know if Antietam motorsports park is still open in Hagerstown Md? Kids are not sure if they want to race MX or Cross country! I have a Vinson 500, and would live to Cross country with them....I wonder if the have a utility class:devil:

Thanks for you response,
Sean

Glad to hear another parent getting their kids involved in mini quad racing!!! So far you are on the right track. Yes 8 & 10 are old enough to race in the 90cc class but you will need two quads for both of them to race. They could either race the 90cc 8-15 or the 70cc 6-11 classes. As for where to race, well that's a different story. District 7 is not very supportive of youth quad racing. You may want to look into District 6 (http://www.amadistrict6.com/)
I posted there quad info here... D6 Quad info (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=210206)

District 7's info is posted here...
