predator vs 400ex

ive had my ex for about a year now...my friend just got a 04 predator troy lee edition....its stock except for exhaust and jet kit....will i stand a chance with my quad against him? ive got a 13t sprocket, fmf power core 4, power bomb header, jet kit, k&n with outerwear. most of our riding is backwoods roads, some trails and alot of gravel pittin

my 400ex against his predator...will i have a hard time keeping up with him on back roads and trails or will we be about equal....i rode it two nights ago and his pulls way harder than mine up till 4th gear im just worried that the old 400 is gonna have a hard time keeping up

I have a 440ex and it smokes my buddies 03 predator,i dont know about stock i would definetly throw the stock front sprocket on.with the pipe it will make up for those 2 teeth but on the trails im sure you will take him. my buddy always talks about how good his is but it seems the polaris is always broke and the honda is runnin strong.

lol...yea i actually just rebuilt his last weekend...he didnt clean the filter at all and it sucked in dirt and ate up the intake valves so he ordered a wiseco high compression piston and new valves and i ported and polished his head...it should run much better but it still pulls harder than mine.....:confused:

sorry dude, but your gonna get smoked. New Troy lees have very nice fox suspension stock. I was riding today and talked to a guy with one. It was his second time out with it. It was insanely fast and the suspension seemed to just soak up everything.

top end for top end, your going to get beat, unless you know how to really ride..... but in the woods and such, you should be able to beat him

what about a 426 kit with some port/polish or even a 440 big bore...would i stand a chance then?
also how reliable are the 440 kits...i dont want to be tearing this thing down every other weekend i go riding

id go with the 440 kit, mine runs the same as stock running 110 octane and its twice as fast it beats my friends 04 450r up 4th gear with the HRC kit but after that he's gone. His kills the predator.

ive looked on ebay and found some 440 big bore kits with the wiseco piston and sleeve and cometic gaskets for around $180 are these a cheaper version of the 440 kit or are these the real thing??
also what about cooling problems do i need a bigger oil cooler and tank or will the stock one hold up for now?

higher octane burns slower.....it takes more heat to ignite higher octane fuel than lower octane...you dont have to add higher octane fuel unless you change your compression ratio...so therefore adding higher octane fuel is only doing one thing....burning my money.
do your homework first before you start telling the wrong things to other people...

you'd want to see what parts that e-bay deal has - but I'd deff go with a powroll head gasket 'cuz thats where you'll have probs - mine hasn't leaked for 3 yrs. now - and deff. cam up if yer' gonna do it - a 39mm fcr carb really helped my 440 - and not just rubbin myself but my 440 beats 9 of 10 others that I've raced - just strait up raced - like draggin - and my bud has the predator and when he changed his sprocket we were even draggin at dunes - and we're pretty even at the track - so if he still beats ya' you can remind him how little he beat ya' by w/ an extra 100cc's - then go smoke him at the track

the ones on ebay come with a LA Sleeve and a wiseco piston and cometic gaskets for like $175....that is incredable priced compared to what my friend just bought for his predator...$136 for wiseco predator piston. i think im definitally stickin with the ol ex for a few more years. lookin forward to keep up with him this summer

if u wanna catch the predator ur gunna need the 440 kit and u still probly r not gunna catch him unless ur one good rider, put it this way 400cc air cooled to 500cc liquid cooled

yeah - 175 is dirt cheap - my 440 was re-done 3 yrs ago and my bill was almost 900$ - but ya' should really look into getting powroll's gasket - my mech. wont use anything else - and has done alot of 440's over the yrs w/ no probs - - and if yer' looking into cams whitebros makes one that is far superrior to like a hotcams that doesn't require changing to hardfaced parts -

LMAO is that why my preddy can absolutly smoke my friends z400 when its running, so basicly it gets to smoke it about 1 a year becasue the rest of the time it isnt running :blah:, normaly i wouldnt brand bash but u dummies alread :p
