I see in some peoples sigs that they use a crf450 cam chain in a 400ex motor. I'm curious what benefits come from doing so?

Its alot stronger and it will not stretch like the stock one does.

People say it's stronger, but I don't agree. I have two 400ex's, my serious built one, and my semi built trail one. The trail one has a 426 kit with a 12.5 to 1 JE Piston, port and polish head, cam, hard-welded rockers, and it did have a crf450 cam chain.... UNTIL, it stretched and jumped two teeth on the sprocket. Luckily not enough to get my valves and piston in a frenzy with each other. My built 400ex (below) has a stock chain that I have replaced once... And it wasn't even stretched the first time I did. So I'm not convinced in a crf450 chain as far as strength... Bad experience for me...

Just by comparing the two side by side, it appears that the crf450 cam chain should be much stronger. I know my stock cam chain snapped in half, it had been in there since 2002. I have about 10 hours on a 2002 crf450 cam chain and it has ran fine for me.
