Polishing cases?

Ive been thinking of polishing my cases on my 400ex, is it necessary to sand them down and then put Mother's on them or can i use paint stripper and then put mothers on them? Will they still shine?

Your going to need to sand, ALOT

start at 600 and go up to 1500 or higher if you can, polishing compounds work better, but mothers will work, blue magic also works well. its alot of work.

First you should strip the paint off ,then then sand with fine sand paper.i used a buffing wheel and a dremel.Im sure mothers would,its just going to take awhile.If you do it right it should look like this.

sand alot, then wet sand it to get the scratches out and then polish away.

Thanks guys, i usually do sand my stuff down. I was just curious if i could get away with stripping them down and putting mothers on them.
