i just added another gig of memory to my computer today and it is going so much faster. it slowed down a little bit a few weeks ago when i installed this new software i got 3D studioMax.

if i am remembering right there has been a few peple askin/talkin about there computer being slow so just wanted to say i recomend you spend the money on more phicical memory because it makes a world of difference compared to virtual memory.

Ram is one of the best things you can add to a computer for faster speed..
Also defragment once a month or so and run a spyware remover such as adaware.

Ive learned a gig of ram is almost a must have with XP because its such a ram hog.
You can get by with 512 (1/2 gig) if you have a seperate video card.

Onboard video chips grab and locks up memory from the system memory. sometimes 64 megs, sometimes 128 megs.

Lets say you have a onboard video chip (made right on the mother board) and you have 512 megs of ram on the mother board.

If the onboard video grabs 128 megs of ram to be used only for itself, you only have 384 megs left to run programs with and thats not much with XP and todays programs. A onboard video chip grabbing 64 megs would leave 448 for the cpu and programs. Not enough to make a computer fast.

Now a gaming computer, dont even bother using the onboard video. Get a video card, and at least a gig of ram for system CPU.

Laptops you have no choice really because you cant add a video card. Slap some ram in it
