I have a 2002 Honda 4X4 TRX350 Rancher ATV. I'm thinking about getting a lift kit for it. Anyone have any experience with buying and installing a lift kit on an ATV, be it Honda or otherwise? I'm not a mechanic but this doesn't look real difficult. Should I try to do it myself or just pay to have a mechanic do it for me?

Second question; I have a Warn 2000 winch but have not tried to mount it on my ATV. Does anyone have any experience buying and installing an ATV winch mount?

What about the Warn Multi-Mount product. Any experience or recommendations?

Thanks

very easy to put on basically need a jack and the wrenchs and sockets, i got a kit for my dad from www.highlifter.com, he now has some 27" mud tires if there wasnt a lift the tires would be rubbing

Yup. Gorilla makes 6" lifts for ATVs that work like a suspension lift on a fullsize truck, but they're also about the same price. The 2-3" lifts from highlifter are cheap and easy clearence.

I was looking at the Highlifter products but in talking to a couple of mechnics they said the lift kit puts a strain on CV boots and joints that they weren't designed for. Consequently you end up having to replace them much more frequently than you would otherwise.

Any experience with this being true?

look into teh PERFEX kit, ive had both and prefer it over the highlifter kit, its also easier to install and rides smoother.

HiperX,

What kind of machine does your dad have the highlifter on?

440_Turtle,

Where can I find the PERFEX kit? Have you seen it used on a Honda Rancher 350 4X4?

These mechanics have got me real nervous about them.

Thanks for all the good input.

;-)

no i havent seen it used on a Rancher but they have very similar suspension to my Foreman. Yes they will put more stress on your CV's but its nothing that id worry too much about, ive been runnign for 2 yrs with no problems.

Just so there's no confusion on my part, when I looked up the Perfex link it was for a suspension system. Looking around, Perfex also makes a lift kit. Is your recommendation regarding the Perfex lift kit or suspension kit.

My objective is more ground clearance (without too much additional stress on the CV joints and boots) not necessarily a smoother ride. Most of my riding is in open swampy or muddy areas so I'm going pretty slow and don't have to deal with rocks, ruts, trees etc. that make for a bumpy ride. I'm trying to reduce getting stuck when I hit a deep spot.
