new CRF450 quad

Has anyone else heard of the new crf quad that honda might be releasing as a late 03 model or early 04? There is a post on this at the ATV connection site. Hopefully this is not just another rumor and Honda is really coming out with this quad. As soon as Honda releases it my name will be on the waiting list.

the 2003 models are honda's are out. so i dont think there will be a 450crf quad:huh

he did say 'late 03' or 04 model. it is still probably a rumor, but some manufacturers will release mid-year models if the timing is right.

I bet honda will wait tell other mags get over the hype of the new quads and wait for the quad "arms race" to stop and then pry around 2004 they will release a quad probably when everyone thinks the quad arms races is over because suzuki just released its high end sports machine, kawasucky, yamaha, cannondales and I think the new honda will be going through a lot of testing and pry want to wait for the new polaris to come out. I think it will pry be a around 600cc's but I would like it to have a detuned cr450f instead.

DW mentioned something about Honda maybe coming out with a CRF450 based quad late 03-04 in this months issue.

if honda puts out anything they will probly put it through some extensive testing first. you got to remeber that the crf was a suprise to the dirt bike world. i heard there could be a yzf based yamaha quad commin out too. but that was a rumor i saw a while ago

there is an article about it in the new Dirt Wheels mag. It says that they have been testing it for a whille and that it might use an aluminum frame. I sure hope this is true.

check this out........yamaha is not making the 426 dirtbike any more....the motor is proven and under 440cc..maybe heyll stilll produce the motor and put it in the quad chassis

Yeah, but the new yamaha will be too narrow and heavy (name one yamaha sport quad that isnt one or both)

There is usually a Honda dealers show in August or September. That is where the public first learned about the Rincon and the new Aquatrax. I'm not sure of the exact date (if anyone knows it please let me know) but if a new Sporttrax is going to be unveiled, look for it there. :cool:

Here is my insight on the situation... Has anyone here ever ridden a CRF450? They are not good trail bikes, the average never before rider can not get on it and go fast, the 400ex just about everyone can become a play racer or jump some small doubles...thats why everyone and their mother owns one. Now if Honda puts this pipey, high maintenance, 2stroke like 4stroke in a quad chassis, its only gonna appeal to the racing and hardcore trails crowd, not the wide market, therefore equalling less sales...and the Rincon's release date was pushed back to October, if that has any relevance...

thats what I mean detune it to the point its just a little racer ready than the 400ex and honda could sell their own mods for it like yamaha to make it into a regular racer if you want.

tahts because they bumped it up to a 450. just like the 426 was an upgrade of the old 400F

so everyone whats up with this 440cc rule? is this just with the pro class? I'm not sure seeing they let raptors race and banshees and they are 350cc but they are 2 stroke.

250 pro actully alows you to be 265cc for a two stroke. thumpers are alowed to go to 440.

thats why open class is around, shee's, 330r's, polaris, and raptors, ds's, and so on race in this class ( or a 4stroke class), the pro class has a limit of i think 265 (2smoke) and 441 (4stroke), thats why, honda wouldnt release a giant 650ish size, becuase it couldnt race in the main classes, they will do a 440ish size quad, becauese wit a 440, it can be bored out and raced in the open too, effectually creating a 2class racer, instead of a complete 1 class racer

Every racer in the world will want one. Just because everyone can't ride a quad like that don't mean it won't sell. Look at the CR250, not every average trail rider can ride one of those but they still sell. Honda definitely needs to come out with that quad!!!!!!!

I find it interesting though.
