what to look out for, buying used 400?

Looking to buy a used 400ex 2000-2003 with the tax return and need to know what to look for on a used quad. I have been around bikes so I know a couple of general things and as it will be from a private seller and NOT a dealership, there aren't any warantys?

Honda extended warranties are transferable.

Check the sprockets and chain. Check the oil to see if it is clean or dirty. If you can get ahold of a compression guage, check to see how much compression the rings are holding. If you could get it on a stand wiggle the front tires to see if there is any play in the bearings, and also check for play in the rear carrier bearings. just look it over well.
