getting the clutch off

im gonna start tearing downt he ex tommarrow to put the cam and new cam chain in. im just wondering for takeing the clutch off do i realy need on fo those pliers that hold the clutch in place while your taking the nut off? or can i just shift into first and do it that way?

i didn't use that tool. just an air impact. but make sure you hit that punch out of the nut before you take it off. it is center punched into the groove so it doesn't come undone. make sure you use a screw driver or something and get it out completly or it will mess up the threads on the shaft.
