Just bought a 1989 mustang and am looking for some more information about these cars. The car is a 4cyl auto right now, but that will change eventually. I do need a tranny for it, and dont' know where to look or if any other trannies will work. Any help, websites, etc.. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think the transmission my brother has in his '89 coupe is a PA Comp C4 (AT) and made by Performance Automatic which I think is out of Pennsylvania. It's an awesome trans. It has a higher stall (2400-2800) and hurst shifter. It is for sale!!

Performance Automatic is in Maryland, gaithersburg to be exact on Beechcraft Ave:eek:
I ran one of thier trannys for a few seasons when I raced mustangs.

what did you have under the hood? or did you just have those welds for nothing. only reason i say that is cause my friend with a 93 notch has welds and bigass tires, and the cars a 4-banger. its looks mean though.

I ran a Paxton 12 lb supercharger, Trick Flow twisted wedge heads, gt 40 intake, c&l 73mm mass air, 65 mm throttle body, no AC, 5 speed 3:73 gears spinning 31 spline moser axles.
the car ran low 11's on radials and was a blast to drive.

did you have good luck with the paxton? i have heard good things about them for the most part. an 11 on radials is pretty dam quick.

I had zero problems out of the Paxton. Every other guy I ran with had Vortech and never had as reliable of a set up as did I.
11's quick:p Our DDMI twin turbo 306 with dart heads would run high 10s on radials at 128 mph, and would bury a motorsport 180 mph speedometer on the highway.

twin turbo setups are definately nice. i have seen a v6 mustang with a TT setup that run's 10's.

i had nothing but problems with paxtons. i had an sn89 an sn93 and tested a vr4 for them for a while and they sucked. IMO.
i was running small pulleys to get more boast but ran coolers and still kept smokin them.
i used to run a DYNAMIC trans. they are in new haven conn. it was a c-4 with a brake, mnual reverse valve bodys and a 8" coverter with a 3500 stall. ran it for 2 full race season, no problems at all.
