I have been doing alot of jumping and hill climbing lately, when it comes to jumping its not to bad but when i get into the hills if i dont have enough speed my quad likes to bog down in 2nd and 3rd... Any ideas on how to increase power in 2nd 3rd gear? I have a 400ex 05' stock engine, white bro. pipe only engine mod...

http://www.imgdump.net/images/6_100b4871_resized_3.jpg i not sure what sprocket size you have on your front but if you drop a tooth on the sprocket you'll gain more on bottom end, which is what you want. you will lose maybe 5mph on the top end, but if you trail ride, its a good investment.

if you can, a 416 gives it major torque. But you will probably want to wait a while since the bike is still relitively new. K&N's help with torque too.

I would get a 14 tooth sprocket. You will lose a little top end but you will not have as much bogging down in the gears sence the gear ratio is shorter.

if you look and read, his bike is an '05 so he needs to drop to a 13 if he is going to drop.

A cam and high comp piston would do the trick for the power. you dont even have to bore it out, a stock bore will give you a good increase.

Most common, since you already have a pipe, get a K&N air filter and remove the air box lid if you dont go thru a lot of mud and water, then drop one tooth on the front sprocket. That should wake it up a little bit more.

The set up I just installed seems to have done it for me. Wb E2 , K&N with drilled air box lid and a stage 1 hotcam.

I finaly got it pretty well jetted last weekend and got to take it out for a good ride. and let me tell ya what a difference. Now I can really controll my take off on jumps. Just a flick of the throttle on take off and you will be landing on your back tires. I'm going to have to re learn how to ride this thing. I will actually have to use restraint with the throttle at times.

I left my front sproket alone because I like the gear positions for where I ride but if I go to 22 inch rear tires I will be doing something with the gearing.

Still sore from that ride ;)

of course they have them since they come stock on them. if you want to change your gearing you need to go down to a 13, which is 1 tooth lower than stock. for 99-04 ex the stock gearing is 15/38, but for 05+ ex's stock gearing is 14/38 but with different tranny ratio's so top speed is about the same as the older ones even though they have lower final gearing.
