CDI box

I heard on this site that if you cut the pink wire that connects to the CDI box the quad will go faster. Is this true, and if so what does it do exactly and what are the negative effects?:confused:

The pink wire controls the 4th gear rev limiter. If you cut it, you will gain top end speed.
Down side is if you cut it you will be able to over-rev the engine causing it to blow. But it takes quite a bit and you can adjust that with the gearing, but if you are running stock gearing you should be alright you just have to be careful when the rpm gets to high..
