After putting $980 canadian into a crank, piston, and all seals, bearings and a bunch of other expensive parts, the mechanic calls me today and says i need about another $500 in parts, a right crank case..a rubber plate guide and a needle bearing for the kick start. I have nooo idea why I need a case, but im pissed, he hasnt told me why i need it yet.

They are bad about cracking, I have already put one on my bike.

Honda says there is a bearing in the casing that goes to the kickstart that goes out and causes it to crack. A lot of people say it is from touching the gas when you are starting it and causing it to kickback.

really, very weird, i just got a call from my mechanic, he said the rubber seal and bearing on the right side for the crank, was just totalled, and i guess it spun and ruined the case...oh well more $$$$ just to make it move, what an expensive winter

Mine did the same thing. The thing that caused mine to do it was the lower rod bearing locked up and it caused a abrupt stop to the crank and it opened the space up where the bearing went in and loosened it some. We never noticed it putting it back together and about 2 months after the crank failure we pulled it apart again to replace more cases.

Hey corey, You shoud go to muldrews and see the case for yourself, and see whats wrong with it. you may be able to have it aluminum welded. theres a guy in campbelford that does it.
anyway, check it out before you spend a ***** load of $.

not 100% sure but beleive me . me ,my sponsors, and honda, and dealerships have all beat or heads senseless trying to figure out why.god why.
our last conclusion is. when starting the ignition timing is so far advanced that is is firing before top dead center and firing the engine backwards. untill the oneway gear in the kickstarter is stopping it and with so much force it cracks it to crap.

I also didn't run a throttle position sensor on most occasions. when you don't have one it automatically defaults to the wide open throttle ignition timing curve.. puting it even farther ahead then my dyna has already advaced it.

i dont think its fixable, its in the slot where the crankbearing sits
