I have a 2004 Honda 400ex. I was just looking for some tips on what I should strip down a clean after taking the bike out and getting it muddy.

well, first, if you have the airbox lid off, put it back on. Then, get a pressure washer or a good pressure nozzle. Spray the whole bike down. Apply simple green or some other heavyduty degreaser. After soaking everything spray the bike over again. Then after that take some rags and dry every thing off. Next take WD-40 and spray all the parts that move. After that get some spray armorall plastic shiner and spray the plastics. Let in sit for about 5 minutes and then wipe off with a clean rag. If you have engine degreaser then you can spray the engine at the same time you apply the simple green. And remember to spray it off. That should get it clean.

make sure it's dry before you use wd40. I thought I read somewhere that you can actually block in the water with that stuff. Kinda like bubbling it in a small crack or something.
anybody else hear of that?
I let mine dry overnight, then lube 'er up.

i pressure wash it then hand wash it. then i take all the fenders off and gas tank too. then wash it and all the removed parts again. then i take tha air box off and clean out the inside and the carb...having that off lets me get to some of the other things easier... i stand it up on the rear end and take the front wheels off. then i pull the calipers off and use brake clean to clean the brakes and rotor. i am cleaning every little bit as i go a long. after i am satisfied with that, i put the wheel back on and jack up the rear end...i take the rear wheels off and clean my axle, sprocket, rear hubs, and swingarm. i also pull off the brake caliper and use brake clean on the brake parts. i do this after every ride

i am about to tear down my 06 450r right now to clean for the first time. i already did the pressure wash and hand wash...now comes the tear down...should be fun...

you do this after every ride??? Damn! it takes me like 1hour just to pressure wash after a muddy XC race and I leave everything on and just shoot everything off. That must take you like 3 hours a quad.

engine degreaser and pressure washer. First I hit it with a normal lawn house and let it sit for like 5 min to saturate and then pressurewashed it. Came right off.
