Anyone else love watching this? My dad and I sit down and watch this non stop, He grew up being a bouncer and later on went to become a 3rd degree black belt in tae kan do (sp) and entered 3-4 toughman competitons, later on in life got into kick boxing and He's been teaching me little stuff here and there . I would love to be able to get into this stuff someday!

heres a video for anyone who doesnt know what ufc is.. Basic rules are no kicking if you have shoes on and no kicking the fighters head if he is down. It's a mix of every type of fighting out there, There is no scoring, they fight till the ref breaks it up, fighter gives up, doctor (cuts etc) and knock outs!

Yeah its called cauliflower ear, the ear has to be struck hard enough for a large blood clot to form then it seperates away from the cartlidge. . My dad has it a little bit not to bad though

Mxjunkie, I'm pretty sure the general rule is no striking, except for punches, to the back of the head (no knees, elbows, etc) and as far as I know, there is scoring. On Saturday, both main fights on the PPV went the distance. Franklin retained his title and Rush won, so there has to be some type of scoring.

Not bombin on you bro, just tryin to clear things up. But yeah, UFC is hands down the most intense sport you can watch on TV. Those guys are so talented, it isn't even cool. There all crosstrained in like 4 different fighting styles.

Anyone a fan of Joe Riggs?

I watch it all the time, and have taken several classes in a few types of fighting...those guys usually know more than 4 types.

mxjunkie, if you're looking to get into it, I suggest you start yesterday cause most of those guys have been learning and training it for 10 years. for example in jujutsu it usally takes someone 3 years to to earn the first belt(blue), then purple, brown, black. the fighters you see in the ufc are at least purple belts, so they've been doin that for at least 5-6 years probably...

exactly, there is scoring if someone is not knocked out at the end of the 3, 5 min rounds or 5, 5 min rounds it goes to the judges.

The older fights were the best ... like the ones when it first came out . They used to fight till someone got knocked out ... didn't matter if half their blood was on the canvas . Now it seems they stop the fights as soon as someone gets a bloody nose .

But yeah it's a pretty intense sport . There's a few guys here in town that I know of that fight in the Canadian version of UFC ... one of them is smaller than I am and he's a bouncer at the local bar . People think he's a joke and start fights or try and push him around ... MISTAKE on their part when he hauls them outta the bar and whoops their butt !!!!

a bouncer would be such a cool job........but only if you were a really good fighter

Ya the guy loves it ... gives him practice in his down time . LOL . The bar he works at is especially rough , so he loves it . They've gone through a ton of bouncers ... most of them had their butts handed to them by customers .... but this guy is pretty good . It's always fun to see a new guy walk into a bar and think he can cause chit cuz the bouncer isn't any bigger than 5'7 .... not so fun for him when he's picking his teeth out of the gravel cuz a short lil sucker whooped his rear !!!

If I was big enough ( or strong enough) I'd love to be a bouncer .... but I know right now I'd end up with too many black eyes . LOL

Can bouncers take it to the full limit like on tv, a riot starts, the bouncer slams him through a table, picks up a pool stick brakes it over someones head, take 2 pool balls and clutches them and starts to do a boxing style fight? Or do they just drag there drunk *** out and then give them a shot and see if they retaliate?

They just drag you out and when you take a swing at them they plant your face straight into the ground ... you'll usually end up with an few elbows or a knee to the back of the head . But other than that , no they aren't really supposed to beat the hell out of you ... just escort you off the property .

Yeah! I couldnt remeber their names. They were relentless, I was so bummed when at first the one guy didnt get the contract and he fell down in exaustion I bet that felt so overwelming when you gave it your all and didnt get it, but then they gave them both one I thought that was awesome.
