good at least he didnt waste his time on smaller quads. i got a modded 300ex as my first quad when i was 12, 95 pounds and within 5 months i wanted the upgrade to the 4. i definitly could have started on it.

i started out on my dads 250r at 10, so i see no problem with it, as long as he can understand his limits

i got my 400ex when i weighed about 110 lbs and was 15...it wasnt my first four wheeler though and I dont think i was too small for it though. the four wheeler only does what you tell it to do..its not like its a horse or anything

i am going the opposite way here. i don't believe the safety commissions recomended ages are good recomendations. they are too strict. with that being said, when there are atv deaths, what are usually the circumstances? 1. inexperience and 2. alcohol
since this is about age and size, i will deal with number one only.

it is hhard to say that the bike will be too much for your friend. my guess is that he will get hurt on it, or even hurt a passenger. now if he takes the training course, adn follows the no passenger rules, then he may be ok. i hope this is the case.

but like i said, he is small and the bike is powerful. i can see an accident in the future. unfortunately, when this happens, the parents will blame the 4-wheeler, so will everyone else and the atv community will have yet another black eye due to parents buying a machine that their kid was not ready for as a babysitter. hopefully, this never happens, but if it does, the parent need to take responsibilty for their sons actions instead of blaming the atv.

I don't see an "accident waiting to happen". Honestly, do you think an accident would be less likely on a blaster or 300EX?
