Ok, here's the situation..

I was gonan race redbud with all my friends, but now my dad says that insurance doesnt cover me in the states and he claims its 30000 $ if i get hurt and I have to go to the hospital, is there anyway to get health insurance there?

The $30 000 thing is the dumbest thing I've heard, it will only cost a much as it costs depending on what/how you are hurt... You could buy some sort of health care for in the US... Or just pay for it if you get hurt (I'd suggest just not getting hurt).

if you get hurt just tough it out til you get back to canada.

We get free health care up here, so I think my dad is trying to make a point by saying if you get really hurt and cant transport you back to Canada, i'd be stuck in the states with medical care that I have to pay for...

I think its dumb.. but I need to convince him..

You can buy travellers insurance either through your insurance company and some banks . Some insurance companies even state in their policies that they will cover a certain amount if you're injured outside of Canada . Call your insurance and ask them about it . What do you think all those retired folks do when they travel to Florida every winter ?? They buy medical insurance !!!!

Thats what I thought, either try that or go through ama insurance.
