how would a big bore utility quad perform..ive never ridden one, i have a 2003 polaris trailblazer 400 and i have been looking into a big utility quad, but i was just wondering on the newer ones run, power wise, and handling...ive heard the newer ones are starting to be able to run with sport quads, is this true?

I had a 2002 scrambler 400(mods,pipe,clutch,air filter, jetted) before I got my 650 prairie. my prairie is faster with the mods I have on it,(pipe, cdi, clutch,hi comp pistons, hot cams)in the woods I think the scrambler handled better but I got tired of being caked with mud so I got the prairie. As far as the utes running with the sport quads in the woods no, power wise they are getting closer(as far as power to weight ratio)IMO.

When I had my 400ex that I raced XC races with, I was surprized when I lined up for a friendly drag race with a P700 that was stock and was beaten by about a quad length! :eek2: Needless to say I was impressed, and I am currently well on my wayto saving for my new P700 as we speak.
One point about the Utes and sport quads when it comes to racing. The utes are not as agile in the tight and twisty as the sports, but Utes are much more consistant when hitting areas of the course with deep mud and such because they are so much less prone to getting stuck, and can take routes around bottlenecks that sports cannot consider as options. Penland has been known to push stuck sport quads through lines he needed to clear his own line to keep going when others are at a standstill.:D

I have seen several sport quads loose to big bore utes.

Yeah, I was the guy on the green 300 4x4 sitting by roger in his golf cart truck thing. I think that was you sitting in the big group up on the flat when I pulled up next to roger.

i bet the bombardier 800 could run with a 400 ex,or a predator maybe.but the 450's are lighter than the 800;s but if u put an 800 motor in them the 800 wouild win.

REALITY CHECK!!!!

Oh please! Go watch Prairie Al at the Dirt Drags and see him post some of the best times of the night.....Going up against alot of modded sport quads! I'd take an 800 Bomb anyday to have one of the fastest quads around.
