Any 8-plate clutch kit from Sparks, GT Thunder, etc will be the best performing kits. Heavy duty clutch springs usually come with these kits to add that extra holding power to fight slippage found in stock clutches. Adding a billet clutch basket such as a Hinson is also a very wise investment as is a full Hinson clutch setup (basket, pressure plate, inner hub).

Anytime you are replacing the clutch on a 400EX, you will want to replace the backing plate on the back of the basket; this is the weakest link in the clutch.
