This is what the service manual states. I usually put about 625 cc's in mine.

I think this leads to under filling it. If you do this, when you start the quad and the oil get flung around, you will not have enough. Honda does say to start the quad and let it run for a few minutes, shut off, wait a few minutes, then use the check bolt. I just dump in 625 cc's and call it good. (Besides, I can not use my check bolt, previous owner JB welded a bolt into it.)

yes, alot of people fill that way, and it results in burnt shift forks premature gear wear etc.....

also, the manual is stating 100c less then after reassembly*700cc) but it also goes with the oil your using as well. if your using a very slippery oil, more oil will drain out then the manual states.

also, how you drain your oil makes a diffewrence as well. I ususlaly warm up the motor and take it for a good ride to heat up the oil, I also tip the bike on its side and lift up the fornt to make sure i drain as much as i can.

all of these different practices changes the amount of oil needed on refil.

I havent changed mine yet, and who knows when the previous owner did. As soon as I get mien rebuilt, I am putting in the same brand, and just as much oil as beerock said. I trust he knows what hes talking about.

1/2 to .6 of a quart. Fill it till the oil runs out the check bolt, and always check it after a warm up, like everyone else has said. I've got a leaky oil seal (shifter), so I have to check mine every ride.
