2006 GNCC "Orange Crush" Round #1 Live ATV Race Coverage

De Leon Springs, FL - The racers have been filling up the grass fields at the opening round of the GNCC Series since Thursday evening when the RP crew was forced to open the gates early at 3PM instead of the scheduled 6PM due to the huge line down the highway.

In total over 450 ATV riders have signed up as of Saturday evening, but the total will surely inch higher today

The Youth Race had Walker Fowler once again taking the Overall & Production Modified Win on his Cobra. Florida Native Neal Conner gave him a run for his money early, but a thrown chain forced him to settle for second place. In third was Stephen McCulloch who rode his Honda90 to the limits in honor of his father fighting in Iraq for Freedom.

Just talked to Michael. He is out of the emergency room. He pulled his thumb out of the socket and when the thumb went out it pulled the ligaments, muscle, and tendons with it then it pulled all this from the bone. When this happened it chipped a bone in the lower part of his thumb almost down to the wrist. He really messed it up and they would normally put it in a cast but they want him to see a orthopedist as soon as he gets home to see if it will heal on its own. Bad deal. He was running 6th on the last lap when he flipped on he has no idea just happened fast. But he was hungry and wanted to go eat. So guess that is a good sign. Thanks to all asking about him. Am so glad Michelle was there to look after him. mommab

Great coverage! Can't wait to see how the Missouri and Iowa guys do when the GNCC comes to town. Might be interesting to see how they do on home turf. I am realy looking forward to the race season, and this only made me want it start sooner. I am so pumped up. I will help out with the race coverage when I go to the races. I will be racing morning class and will try hard to help with the afternoon coverage. Now I am looking forward to a race report with the pictures. I wish I could go riding. I was looking through the results and I saw my favorite Dirtwheels test rider Logan Holladay on there, I don't know why he got 19th out of 22 or however many there were cause that kid is fast and he beat Lagzdins by a bit in the WORCS race, so I was wondering if anybody knows if he ran into problems or what happened? Still cool to see that he raced it though.

As rough as that track was nothing would be suprising, there were plenty of breakdowns, wrecks, and people running out of stamina to keep up the pace. Thats the 1st race that I have ever heard so many complaints on rough track conditions. Its not often you have 4 pro riders have wrecks in one race ( Ballance,Derisi,Cook,Gallager) may have been more

The two events are similar yet very different, and Logan Holladay didn't have any problems that I heard of except exhaustion from racing two hours of sand whoops.
