I've just bought my first 250r and rode it only a couple of times, I was riding when I noticed that my clutch was way to easy to pull in (and wasn't disengaging), almost like the cable was broken. I adjusted it at the handle bars and it was was fine, 15 minutes later the same thing and I can't adjust it any more, the lever on the motor won't rotate any farther. The motor is almost brand new and so is the clutch which was showing no signs of wear. Could there be something wrong with the mechanism that engages and disengages the clutch inside the motor? I have done some searches and not found what I was looking for.

Thanks

What year is your motor? Sounds like you need an 89 clutch update kit, new presser plate, lifter, rod, washer and flat bearing about $60 from Honda. Check service Honda part # 06220-HB9-305

did you put on a new cable?

it could be that the cable is streching becouse of its age

I was told it has the clutch update and the clutch arm on the motor will not travel any farther it must be hitting some internal stop. I have adjusted the cable as far as it will go.

Found the problem, the washer with the tabs that bend against the nut that hold holds the clutch assembly on was missing the tabs and the nut came loose.
