Anyone running there 06 with out the airbox lid.I got the HRC kit and Prodesign filter kit with the K&N filter111Am i better off rejetting w/o the lid!!

I have a 06 and all i did was put a 190 main jet in with no air box and uni air filter and it runs great.

I guess ill jet up then cause im running the 168 that came with the HRC kit!!!!And it ran like **** with the lid!!Once i took the lid off it hauls ***!!!What Yosh are you running!

That's because the HRC kit for the '06 tells you to take the lid off. An HRC kitted '06 won't run well with the lid on as you know now. You might want to read through the HRC manual again. Also I wouldn't jet up the main from the HRC specs because someone tells you that they are running a bigger jet. Good luck.

Did you get your bike dyno'd or check your spark plug after this? Your likely off somewhere on your jetting even if it feel good.

If you don't like running with no lid check out the EHS Racing lid, it's like running with no lid on, but you still get good protection.

I put a 190 main jet in it. I have had no problem. There is not missing in power any where in the power band high or low.

06 with hrc and no lid. have a k&n and prefilter on the way. do you think ill need to jet ? hrc was installed by dealer and they left lid on, the hrc come with a specific jet or a few to pick from ?

Have you run the bike yet and do you have your HRC manual?

Maybe you don't know what you are missing also. For most people this quad is so strong that just a couple horsepower here and there is not noticeable to them. Not to mention if you run a bike with poor jetting for a long time you may be sacrificing your engine life. Not saying your jetting is off for sure, but if you just picked a main jet and put it in you are likely off. If you don't want to spend the 50-80 bucks to take it to a dyno then at least do a few spark plug reading runs.

I couldn't find anywhere in the HRC manual where it states whether to remove or leave lid on. It does however imply it by mentioning you will have to clean your filter more often.

I haven't tried running with the lid on but it definately runs good with it off. I recently installed the EHS Racing lid and there's 0 difference in performance but my filter stays cleaner.

I wouldn't think you'd need to rejet to run a K&N.

it says to remove the clips (they hold the lid on) why would you remove the lid hold down if not to leave it off. yes it runs really good now and im not really trying to get more power from the k and n but im taking a waynoka trip april and need a pre filter. I couldnt find one for the stock air filter, I was leaning toward the outerwears lid but if im dropping another $100 I think Ill try to get more for the money. Im happy with the performance, the jet question is more for the preservation of the engine life. Ill just pull the jet out and see what they put in it.

I had my 04 jetted at that. I took it to the deal and that is what they did it at. I know the 06 is a differnt carb. The main jet stock is 120 compared to a 118 on the 04. It really hits hard top to bottom. I wish i could get more power out.

Mine has the HRC kit and the dealer said to run it with the lid off.

I do go thru some creeks,so this is a concern of mine.
Where do I find info on this EHS lid?

On page 1-6 of the '06 hrc manual under intake system it says remove the air cleaner housing cover and retainers. It even points an arrow to the air cleaner housing cover (air box lid). Hope this everyone.

EHS lid is a rip off. Just buy outerwears airbox cover for $20.

ok pulled the hrc jet out its a 162, the stock one is a 120 (I have all the stock take off parts). yes when i got mine home and rode it a little it ran good but when i took the lid off it rev's so much faster. I guess I need to figure out it the k & n with prefilter will move more air than the big foam stock filter with no lid.

what year ? my 06 has a 162, and the hrc manual also says 162 on page 1-2 where it list the standard and competition kit parts. did you put in a 168 or did it come with the kit ? my 250r was easy to jet just do plug checks, this 4 stroke stuff is a little new to me.

I put in what ever came with the kit and left it and it runs great!!!Besides the dealer did it and if it breaks it goes back!!LOL!!!But it is fine....

It won't. But the K&N will lighten your wallet a little.
