the wheels on a stock 400ex and a 450r are the same. i think they are the exact wheel as a matter of fact. i just purchased some douglas wheels for my bike and they seem pretty good. i have been told to stay away from any of the wheels that do not have rolled edged, even if they are 190's. i ended up getting the ultimate billet centers. these are the same offset as the stock wheels. however, they actually sit about a 1/2 inch wider than my stock wheels do. i just did some measuring to see because i was curious. this probably didn't answer your question but thats all i know. :D

The stock wheels were different on my 400EX and 450R. The 400EX had like a 3/2.5 offset, and the 450R had like a 4/1.5 offset, or close to those measurements. You are better off with a 4/1 offset due to the fact that the wheels will be further in towards the hub, and this will decrease bump steer, and put less stress on the hubs. You could run a 3/2 offset which would get you a little wider, which would be good for MX, but you may see a little more bump steer. I have +2 housers on my 450r with the stock 450R rims, and I am at 48.5" wide in the front. I hope I could help!

:D
