I've gone thru 4 ebc dirtracer(?) clutches on my 400 - and time for a change - my motor's pretty pumped up & 2nd gear launches (at dunes & races) just eat them up - I've been lookin' at those sparks w/ the extra plate - does it help any?? - do they last?? is it a harder to pull clutch w/ that x-tra plate in there? - it's either that one - or a barnett - but have heard mixxed opp's on those - any others ya' know about?? thanks in add. for any info guys -

you have to have a forged basket to run the extra plates. tehn get the metal plates from a 250r. use teh 250r metal plates which are thinner and fit right into your 400 basket. use stock plates and add one extra metal and fiber. there you go cheap 8 plate same as the other ones on the market. that is what you are buying if you buy their clutch set up. use stock spring and it will have same clutch pull. you cannot do this with a stock basket, it will break off the ears.

Just run the factory Honda clutches. That is all I will run in mine between me and some friends we have tried about every brand out there and none hold up as good as the stock HRC components with the exception of maybe Hinson..they're 8 plate kit is pretty good. My factories last a good year each time.

the sparks clutch worked well for me. most agree it is a better setup than stock. the pull isn't not that much harder than stock. i never had a problem with it going out, but i am fairly easy on my stuff. the sparks 8 plate clutch fits right in the stock basket on the 400ex.

Been running a sparks kit for about 3 years now. It's all OEM parts besides the springs.

Any clutch plates beside stock are junk.

I"m using Hinson basket, heavy duty springs and sparks plates, which I believe consist of 250 fibers and 300ex steals. Not 100% sure about that but most 8 plate kits consist of OEM plates.

you only have to change out to the 250r metals, the fibers from your 400 are the same thickness as 250r, same fiber clutches.
