try taking a bigger size of screw driver and giv it a good wack with a hammer push durn as hard as you can and turn at the same time.

sometimes u can get pliers on it.

other times u can use a punch and turn it out.

other times u can drill a hole and use an easy out,, but it is so small I dono if they make easy outs that small.

the skrewdriver method works sometimes, try filing a slot in the remainder of the skrew witha a file if u can, that may give u more grip...

Another thing you can do is use a drill with a drillbit the size of the head of the screw and drill the head off. Then after you take the cover off just use vice grips on the rest of the screw stem that is left and turn it out.

i think i will use trevors idea cus the slots in it r totally shot it's basically a round hole so i dont think the screwdriver is gonna work.

ahahaha, same thing just happened to me... I just figured I was going to do what Trevor suggested, but are just going to get the same screws to go back in or what? I don't want to do that, since I've had problems with them. I messed them up good last time and knew that this time would probaly kill the heads, I've done the same on my utility.

So what are you going to do?

I managed to find some flat head bolts at my hardware store. the thred matched up, and the bolt has a \/ head on it. so it fits nice, and it is flat head so it is easier to get out.. and it hapened to be stainless! lol, who would have tho, ( small hardware store)

if you do wat trevor said that risky considering you can get metal shaving in your breake fluids and lines

03-03-2006, 08:32 PM
I doubt u would get shaving in the brake fluid. there is a rubber gasket under the cover.

and if u did, so what, what will it hurt..... exactly.

I had the same thing happen and bought a tool from home depot that fits in your drill and will remove any stripped out screw head.

I had the same problem trying to get mine off. The problem is those darn stock Honda phillips screws are so soft that NOT stripping them is a task considering how tight they are from the factory

Mine was stripped to a complete round cone. I had good luck getting it out with a Craftsman screw extractor set from Sears. I replaced both of those suckers with stainless allen head screws and I don't have to worry about stripping them anymore :D

I bought a set of ez-outs and they came with a matching set of left hand twist drills, they do make ez outs that small and alot of times once youre past the head of the screw the left hand drill will be enough to get it out.
