I dont plan to do this first of all I was just thinking about it and wanted some opinions/ facts. What would it take for a 400ex to run w/ a 450 (giving that you have a good driver). I know you would have to have a big bore, but what size- 440, 465, etc. I have also seen people on here change their 400 carbs out for a 450's, so I assume you would need a bigger carb. What else would ya'll think you would need to hang w/ the 450s. What I mean by "hang with them" is (dream land) for a 400 and a 450 to get on a asphalt drag strip and the 400 not get blown away, and for the 400 to mabe beat the 450. This is all just a idea so dont overthink this.

nothing will let you run with a 450 unless...426 kit 100.00, hotcam's stage 2 150.00, filter 120.00, good exhaust 209.99-799.99, and experience

So there pretty much no way you could keep up?

You can keep up if you do the right work... don't let anyone tell you different. I have been beaten by a modified 400EX on my 450r before... and I am hoping that I can do the same, or keep up with mine. I will be running a 440EX with a bunch of goodies. I will let everyone know how it does and compares to my piped and cammed 450r ( With a rev box, airfilter and jetted properly as well).

452 stroker will put you right with them. But the new 450s power curve is still just better and they will pull you even though the 452 has more hp. The 450s just accelerate corner to corner a lot quicker.

Good suspension will help tremendously.

Mine keeps up with them just fine, except when we get into 5th gear but who does that in the trails..LOL

I can take them off the line and through 3rd and 4th gear everytime. When I hit 5th they catch up and pass me. I have stock sprockets. I was thinking if were to go up a tooth on the front or down on the back that maybe it would help. I must say though that this is against 450's with very few mods. If i race one with cams and or high comp pistons they are out in front pretty easy and are still alot more reliable than me. The best way to compete against a 450 is with a 450 and the best way to beat a 450 is with a better 450. I have put so much money into my quad I could buy 2 450's and some performance parts for each.

Ok, that doesnt seem like that much of a bank cleaner. And that seems like a good set up.

My 406 will, 406 10.8:1 JE piston , Stage 1 cam soon to be stage 2 hotcam, HMF full, 39mm fcr flat side carb, high velocity porting, Vortex ignition. I'm a little limited since I have a stage 1 cam in it but the stage 2 ought to open it up alot. It will keep up with just about anything
