Why should Honda (or any manufacturer for that matter) cover that? I don't ever remember any company that will warranty any product that has been modified and abused. Now PLEASE don't take my use of the word "Abused" implies that it was abused, our definition and the manufacturers definition is way different. I'm just saying what Honda is going to say (I speak from experience).

03-02-2006, 07:47 AM
That is not a manufacturers defect and stuff like this is never covered. After all you did it not them.

Looks like a normal PA quad to me !! For some reason a lot of quads from PA are beat to chit!!

I never buy parts from ebay or any other site if they are comming from PA!!

Warranty?? I doubt it ..

Please, more details on how you destroyed your quad on a "small jump"!?

That sucks man, good luck getting Honda to replace it though. You will have to prove that it was a poor build that caused that problem. They will most likely say that is was abuse that did it.:eek2: :ermm:

03-02-2006, 10:13 AM
Dayum... what the hell happened for all that to occur? How did the left crancase cover get punctured like that? I'm so confused because like someone else said, I would have to drive my quad off a cliff and have it land on a bunch of rocks upside down for all that to happen.

Seriously, I feel for ya man, just wondering how a "small jump" creates all that destruction...

You should put all your factory parts back on it...then file a claim :p

Small Jump or fell off the back of the truck?

bwamos
03-02-2006, 10:38 AM
Looks like the bolts on the left side backed out, and caused the subframe to tweak wich broke the tab on the top right, wich caused the subframe and everything behind the tank to collapse in on itself. That's why I safteywire all of my bolts. ;) Those 2 bolts didnt shear, because those mild steel tabs would have ovaled out under that pressure before they sheared. They had to have backed out on you.

Now the puncture in the sidecase baffles me. It appears to be punctured inward, like something stabbed it. But, the nerfs nor the bars have any major damage to them. Very odd... Whatever it was that did that.. thank god your leg wasn't there!!! Almost looks like it rolled into a piece of rebar, but there's no apparent roll damage, to suggest that.

Good news.. is that it doesnt appear that your primary frame is tweaked by just looking at the photos. so there should be no need to replace it. Just strip it down, get a new tab welded on it, add a gusset kit, and send her to the powdercoat shop. ;)

Subframe is probably toast though. Maybe, maybe not.. it may be salvagable. However the rear airbox is definatly toast. I'd also replace the sidecover, but make sure to check the internals. Something had to have been at least touched if not damaged. THe sidecover could potentially be repaired by a local welder that can weld aliminum. Hole is too big for JB Weld. It will be in constant contact witht he foot.. and you donw want JB weld pieces floating around in your motor oil.

03-02-2006, 11:02 AM
I just remembered something... I saw a pic of the 06 frame up close the other day... correct me if I'm wrong but up under the tank theres a part like... were basically they made two cuts and then welded them back up for strength....

03-02-2006, 12:08 PM
there is no way that happened from just a small jump. There has to be more to the story than that. There is just to much damage to it. It is possible for a quad to roll without touching the handlebars at all, I have seen it. I feel your pain bro, Im in PA too, and I rolled mine up at Slippery Rocks track. Mine was not that bad, I just bent the bars and some stress marks on the fenders. No biggie. Good Luck with everything.

How does the warranty work?

Say you buy a brand new 450r, bring it home, ride it for 5 minutes, roll it and the fenders crack off, is that covered under warranty?

th warrents covers any part defect that was caused from the factory, not from you. you wrecked it and you are the one that should cover it, not the factory.

TheFontMaster
03-02-2006, 03:53 PM
Well I think the honda warenty only covers quads that are stock, or have been worked on by a honda dealer. Just by putting on some of those aftermarket parts yourself I think you automaticaly voided the warenty.

Now if the jump was as small as you claim it was, and the quad didn't roll or anything Honda should replace it, because then it was a defect. But I am with everyone else. Tell us the whole story, because something just isn't sounding right.

brandon34r
03-02-2006, 04:15 PM
well when I called honda they said to put all the stock parts back on,which I have no problem doing, just so they can take some pics.I had a light roll when I first got in on the coal banks, nothing major, but I guess that weakened it up now.If they dont cover it,I guess I'm going to get a new frame from motosport outlet because they are the cheapest, then gusset it and powdercoat it,not exactally what I wanted to spend almost a grand on,but **** happens

Ripitupfilms
03-02-2006, 04:33 PM
Having honda cover this under warranty is not fair to them at all.. this was USER ERROR not the manufactures error ..you should pay for this your self ..

Warranty isnt there so when you flip your quad you get new parts its there for engine problems and errors from the manufacture ...

mrusk
03-02-2006, 04:34 PM
Do not even waste your time putting the stock parts back on. There is no point at all. Honda will not cover that. The dealer will laugh at you when they see the quad. You wrecked it!!

Never never buy a extended warranty on a quad/bike!

well i think its just wrong for him to try to even attempt to get honda to pay for his mistake...i mean like somebody said people get warrentys on cars but that dont mean that they get a new one if they wrap it arround a tree....i could see honda replacing it if it was a brand new bike or it was a flaw...but its apparently not...its user error...besides what year is your bike 04 or 05...man thats atleast a years worth of ridding on that thing...the dealer and honda company itself will laugh you right out of the building...and i only thought the warrenty was to cover internal engine parts that went wrong and had nothing 2 do with the frame...
