My 2005 400EX has a hard time starting in the winter. I do a lot of winter driving. I have the same problem every time(every 2 weeks). Once we are out on the trails I never have a problem starting and shutting it off. I have changed my spark plugs multiple times, I tested my battery and it is fine. I use 94 octane fuel. I use an NGK DPR 8Z spark plug. My idoling is fine. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Could it be my carb settings?

Thanks guys. I think that you are right but I also heard that putting it on a trickle charger helps it to start and will not hurt your battery..what do you think?

honda's in general do not like to start in the cold becuase they are jetted lean stock for epa regulations. The 400ex is like the only quad rated for like the 2012 regulations.

Put a 42 pilot in and you will never have a problem again. In fact you can just pull the choke out because you will not need it anymore.

Pump the gas a few times b4 u go to start it, I can usually start mine w/o the choke in the winter, then again really cold for us down here is like 30.

Get a Battery Tender from Pep Boys. It's an advanced trickle/float charger.;)
