i have an 03 rap and ythe starter cluthch is half shot but today i was trying to start it and it stopped dead and the starter wont even turn its like the starter isnt getting any power i had been trying to start it for the last 20 min but it wouldnt i think it is the weather - 12

could it be the relay switch

trygiving the starter a little tap when u try to turn it over, see if that helps and post back.

also when it would turn over before it would turn like really hard

u could just need a started rebuild, if not, it could be internal, i dont think it will be, by the sounds of it u just need someone to rebuild the starter.

i went out and messed around with it today and there is a black box behind the battery that the wires go through i think it is a relay and when i cross the two bolts holding the wireswith a screw driver it turns the motor so what does that mean

Your problem is the cam. The weights on the cam for the de-compression are sticking. Dont keep trying to start it. It will fry your solenoid. You need to pull the cam cover off and bend the thin metal "wings" bvack out so they are not hitting you gear. What is happening is the decompression is not working. It will work once and a while but thats it. Same exact thing happened to me!!!

If you really need to ride it, slip it in 1st gear and rock the bike in gear until you hear the engine turn a little, slip it back in neutral and try start it, if not sucessful try it again, make sure its in gear when you rock it, then neutral.
