I worked in a dealership when they were new, The '86 was $2648, '87 was $2798. '88 $3498, 89 $4098. The big jump between '87 and '88 was because of the value of the American dollar to the Japanese Yen. All Japanese vehicles went up considerably at this time.

I have an old tape of tour of duty with a commercial from the local honda shop for the 88 250R. It says 2499.99, I just watched the other day and remembered I payed 2500 cash for mine used in 95 and was like duh.
