Anyone here make this change yet? I have a brand new set of 06 YFZ450 shocks on my shelf I am thinking of bolting on my Raptor 700 this weekend, but wanted input from anyone who has already done it.

how much better are they? I find the factory shocks to be suffiecient for 90% of my riding. They are a little mushy after repeated hard landings on the track, but otherwise ok.

my fear is the yfz shocks might be a little too stiff for woods riding. I had that problem with my c-dale until I added double rate springs.

I know all of the 660R owners say it's a big improvement. Are the arms on the 700 the same as the 450? If so, they may bolt right up with no modification. I know you have to do a little trimming to make them fit on the 660s. Heck if you have a set sitting around, give it a shot and see what happens.:) You won't lose anything about about 20 mins of time wasted.

The '06 shocks are suppose the be the softest of the bunch, and on the heavier Raptor it maybe about perfect. Just play with the settings some and see if you can get it dialed into your liking.

From everything I've read they bolt right up. Yamaha supposedly just put the throw away showas on to keep the price lower. The arms on the Raptor and the Yfz are supposed to be identical.

did it............they fit fine. I hit the track for a few laps with them and they worked well. I will adjust them as needed for the trails.

Very nice! Keep us posted on how you like them.:) Did you notice the difference over the stock shocks?

I'd say that is a good upgrade. I know a guy that we ride with said his 700 rode stiff.

Rode it yesterday for a bit............but I need a more aggressive day of riding before I adjust them. They worked ok in stock form...........but they need some adjustment to suit me.

If you can't get them adjusted out properly, you could always have someone like Derisi rebuild (respring and revalve) them.

That will still be considerably cheaper then buying an aftermarket set.

Speaking of tuning the shocks, I am looking for the easy way out. How does anyone that weighs about 215 have their YFZ shocks adjusted on a 660, plus the stock rear? One guy said he was the rings on the YFZ shocks all the way to the top, but I heard that isn't good too. Any suggestions?

I am only 150lbs and I have my springs cranked down to about 4 threads showing. Not sure where the comp & rebound adjusters are set. I need the yzf stock settings. Anyone have the ability to cut & paste that page of the owners manual here?

I put a new pair of 05' YFZ shocks on my 700R last fall. They lowered the front end a bit. I will adjust once I get some time...

I heard you can get triple rate springs from works for the stock 450 shocks

Derisi will do revalve and multi-spring setups as well., though I'm sure there are a few other companies out there that will also do it.
