You guys where all newbies once lighten up, give him a break. yes theres more to it. More bolts, 2 clips. You have to put the piston back in a certian direction along with rings in certian spots and right side up. boreing honing. a few more little things

A reapir manual will be extremely helpful. It will give you faster and more accurate answers if you understand basic mechanics:)

if is first time dont do it by your self, and instructions help alot. but they dont tell you how to break it in.

So run at 1/4 throttle for 1/2 tank and run through all your gears.
repeat at 1/2 for 1/2 tank then 3/4 till you need to refill.
make sure you run through all your gears you dont have to hold it at 1/4 or 1/2 just try stay at or below. and if you figure the math thats 2 tanks this may be extreme but if you want it to be a reliable piston you should do this.

well if you can do that theres not much more you need to now or do in replacing a top end. good luck

You don't have to break it in on 2 full tanks... that's just his method and the stock method, If you break it in harder it will seet the rings correctly, If you seet them in like he said above then they will be set to run like that there whole life and could wear quicker when you actually start riding it harder. I have always bee successful with the hard break in method and My engines run great and for a long time. just go out and slowly work your way up to 3/4+ throttle then back off then do it again over and over, get on it then let off............

That is considered rebuilding the top end;)

If it's a stock bore the cylinder will need to at least be honed. If it has alot of hours on it, the cylinder's critical measurements should also be checked . If one or more are out of tolerance the cylinder may need to be bored and honed and a larger piston installed.
