My family and friends back home used to build and run this Tractor back in the late 70's early 80's, the "Sassy Massy". i was stunned to come across these pics on the net. just wondering if anyone on this site has seen this tractor pull? i wasnt old enough to remember watchin my grandfather and father drive this tractor. just wonderin if anyone has any cool old stories about watchin it. thanks

my grandfather Eldon Townes drove it, then my dad Rick and then Rick Ilsley and then it became the Country Girl in the 90's with Rodalyn Knox driving it

the man who built the motors is a very good family friend. John Knox and Keith Black, then Brain Knox made it into a business as of now www.sassyengines.com

i think my grandfrather and john knox bought the tractor as the sassy massey from a man in ohio cause john wanted the name or something. i do know that these motors were mopar hemi engines with keith black blocks and still are today. i dont know the power output back then but now a days its around 2000 give or take per engine. these engines are the same engines as a top fuel engine, the difference in the power is all in the nitro methane fuel used in top fuels. as for 5 engines, dude that didnt stop there, the sassy massey saw 6 engines for a few years. heres a pic of the 6 engine powered tractor.

coolex yea i see your from NH, i live in Weare NH the home town of the sassy massey. just outside of concord.

400exc these arnt the only type motors that are used in this sport. some guys have turbine jet engines that power them and some and very few Allison plane engines that were absolutly kickass to watch and hear rumble down the strip

I watched that thing pull here in Essex, VT in the late 80's or early 90's (I'm thinking more like early 90's).

I'm going to have to dig through and see if I can find any pictures. I remember the name, not only because it's easy to remember, but also cause that thing cleaned house.

hey eldon how much do you usually charge to make a track?

NTPRacing#19
03-03-2006, 06:19 PM
its hard to quote a track with out seeing the land that is being used. if its in a feild like joes was it would be cheap cause all needed is a doser, fill, and my time. but if you gotta cut, stump out, and then make start shapin, your roughly looking around 10g or so when said and done.
