ATHENA big bore kit [Archive]

anybody have one? Is it worth the money? Is it reliable? There doesnt seem to be too much info out there on them?

I have one and love it. No problems at all and real easy to install. I would get a high lift cam like hotcam stage 2 or hrc cam and get the head ported to get the full benefit of the kit. I did not get to crazy with the compression just to keep it reliable.

I have the athena 480 big bore, just pulled the motor apart because it had stopped running and piston is cracked in half, it only had probably around 35 some hours on it. So, I am waiting to see if they will warrantee it. Oh yeah it is a weisco piston in the athena kit.

Sounds like you got a bad piston. where did you buy it from?
