Heres my 86/06 250R. It's not quite finished but it is ride-able. I started building it over a year ago, starting with just a frame off ebay.

Nice R. I'm sad to see how many of them have dropped by the way side. They're really nice machines and MUCH cheaper to maintnance than the current breed of 4-strokes.

Where did you get that seat cover cause I have a wicked set of custom made graphics that would match up with that seat.

I'll send you a pic if interested.

If that is just ride-able, I am not sure mine is even safe to sit in the garage...Great looking R. If you don't mind my asking, about how much do you have in it?

250Renvy, Send me a pic, I'd like to check it out. Or post it on here.

mrhyde, I'm afraid to add up my reciepts, but I think I have around 6000-6500 in it. I know I could have bought a new for 450 for what I have in it, but then I would just have a run of the mill 450::ermm: So, I'm glad I went old school, there are not many R's around my parts. Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks for the compliments fellas, I really appreciate them. It has been a while since I planted my butt on a 2 stroke. Years ago I owned a LT250R but always wanted a TRX. I am impressed with how she runs. I will add that I also own a mildy modded DS 650 and this little 250 was making quick work of it this past weekend in 300 ft drags.:D

250Renvy, I forgot to answer your question, the seat cover is from Jettrim.

It's basically a variation of the one industries graphics. Custom coloring and look to it though.

I can recolor it to anythign really. I just thought the red, the white stripe and the blue would all match up.

I think you have a great looking quad for 6500. I have yet to go riding and see another r. You should see the looks on the faces guys with the store bought $6000 dollar bikes when people ignore theirs and stare at mine (which is not much to look at). One more question, did you polish your motor yourself or buy polished parts off E-bay? If you did it, could you give me a little advice? Thanks

mrhyde, I guess my best advice would be to buy the covers off ebay that are already polished. I've seen them on there pretty reasonable. I bought my stator cover off there (already polished) because the one that came on the motor was junk, but I polished my clutch cover. It's time consuming and tedius work. The sanding is what took me so long, the actual polishing took less than a half an hour. I use a buffing wheel on a bench grinder, and on a die grinder, with some soft metal polish. You can get the polish from Lowes, comes in tubes (crayon-like).

250Renvy, Sweet looking graghics man. I'll give it some thought. My original plans were black plastic and original looking looking 86 TRX decals but found a sweet deal on these red fullbores. I'm kinda liking the plain look for now, but I'll stew on it a while.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate the compliments.

The motor is an 86 short rod, 68.5 mm bore, ported, with 38mm Airstryker, ESR TRX5 pipe and ESR airbox eliminator. Last compression check shows 200 psi.

where are you at in indiana? sweet r man. i love the old 2 strokes because it seems like all the 2 stroke riders arent as cocky as the 4 stroke riders who think they can beat everybody.
