well everywhere they advertise that the 06 revs higher than an 04-05 well everywhere I read they all say 9850 on the net, in old dirtwheels you name it. but when you read an article about the 06 it says its higher. what gives? and Im not talking about hrc kits either . just stock vs stock.

Aren't the 05-06s supposed to only rev to about 6 or 7 thousand?

i don't know about the 04-05's revvin that low. i remember exactly reading in one of the first mags that came out with the review or specs on the 450R in 04 saying it revved out at 9850, stock limiter.

thats due to the shorter stroke.

Just more BS from the factories. I have a pamphlet from an 88 250R thats says it came with 38 horse. Now when the first 400ex came out Honda's pamphlet said more horse than a 250R and it listed the 400ex at 36 horse and said the 250R only had 33 horse, so how could they advertise the 400ex with more power 10 years later when Honda's own printed pamphlet from 88 show the 250R with 2 more horse than the 400EX. I believe the last 400EX pamphlet I looked at only listed the 400Ex with 30 horse since the 450R came out, so it changed from when they first made the 400EX. Just factory propaganda to sell quads.

when the 450 first came out, i swear that the brochere said something like 9k+ rpms. but now the new specs say that its much higher than that. but i just came across some article or tech sheet that states the 04-05 have only like 7500 rpms. wtf? if someone out there works @ a dealer let us know.

They are talking about how high up the rpm range it will still make power.

My 400ex dropped off so hard at just over half throttle. I mean it revved mroe but there was just no pull there.

When I first rode a stock 450r I was like this is all its got.
I picked my R up with hrc installed and had my sparks pipe waiting here for it to come in. After first oilchange I put on the pipe. Now this one pulls hard, i will add a piston and porting once warrenty is up in 08.

well I was looking around where I saw the info at and it was on this website lol it was there relase section all the info it not from a member if you get my drift. here it is word for I copied it.
The engine now revs to 9850 rpm, up substantially from the previous engine, and a racing-use power up kit will soon be made available, which, among other things, will raise engine speed to a full 10,000 rpm in the hunt for more performance. So........?????whats the deal??

rev limit 04-05 7500 RPMs
06 9850 RPMs
06 hrc kit add 1000 RPMs

I was under the understanding that the 04/05 reved tp 9350 and the 06 was 500 rpms more at 9850 and the 06 hrc kit added another 300 rpms. I read that on another site about the hrc kit for 06.

When you add the HRC kit to the '06 , it takes the rev limit to 10,000. Stock it is 9850. Go to Honda's web site to see for yourself.

the starter turns it faster than 150 RPMs that would not even be noticable. I'm not saying you are wrong, but it just doesn't seem right does it..;) ???????
